To announce our thought-provoking new modern art collection, discover this Yorkshire Living interview with Robert Sheffield. We welcomed the luxury magazine to Sutton Park in order to speak with Robert and take some photos of the pieces. The article features the curious art acquisitions Robert has brought to Sutton Park to “breathe new life into an old house”.
The works include a conceptual piece by Steven Bishop which has taken up residence in the porcelain room. To explain, the installation is a basic, modern office reception desk. Notably, this sits incongruously among the more traditional collection that dominated the room until now. Robert explains that it is this juxtaposition between old and new which he finds interesting.
“I love the dialogue between the old and the new” he comments. “The collection built by the family over the years needs to grow and continue into the future, reflecting the trends, issues and styles of the time”.
Then the article takes a tour of the various pieces of art. In particular, it showcases Georgie Nettell coffee tables, an Oliver Payne sculpture and a risqué work by Michele Abeles.
The piece goes on to ask Robert about his personal story and interest in art, culture and the future development of Sutton Park.
